Yesterday was my last day at That's My Ticket, and to quote my boss, (who quoted Semisonic's Closing Time) "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." Nail on the head right there. And so ends my saga at TMT. I was there almost two years, and I created a lot of funky fresh artwork for the MLB & NHL. I also created their overall branding, with new logos, a new website (click on their name above to check it out) as well business cards, and store front branding. It was a great run, and really helped out my portfolio. They gave me a nice farewell yesterday, including free lunch and a going away present. They made me a frame (since we are a frame shop) and they framed some of the Bruins product lines I created for them. Everyone from the office signed it (all seven of them!). It was really nice!

Changing Lanes
So, starting this Monday, I will we working for EH publishing. They're a company based out of Framingham, MA. EH is a magazine publisher that focuses primarily on home electronics and home theatres. This will be a good move for me since I'm more of an electronics guy then a sports guy (even though I got hooked on hockey this year). However, I was not hired to work on the magazine end; they hired me for a spot in their Events division, which brings in a lot of their revnue. They host major electronic and trade expos, and they needed someone with "edge" to come in and spice up their design materials for their target audience. So I will be working on event websites and sales material -- things like event catalogs, postcards, brochures, and large scale signage. It's a lot of what I was doing at my past job so I shouldn't have too hard of a time adjusting. I need to get my business casual together. I've been wearing T-shirts and jeans to work for the past 2 years.
With this new job, I'll be making a MUCH better salary, better benefits (matching 401k, HMO, and 3 -4 weeks PTO) , better equipment with a new Mac, a better commute, only 20 minutes instead of an hour, and best of all... NATURAL SUNLIGHT! (in case you didnt know, I've been working in a basement at TMT)
So things are really picking up, and it feels like a start to a true career. I'm a bit nervous for my first day, but that's expected. Wish me luck!
